An idyllic hebridean view over the Sound of Barra from the island of Eriskay towards the north end of the island of Barra, both in the Western Isles. The Sound of Barra ferry is just setting off on its crossing between the two islands. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/eriskay/eriskay/index.html

The stunning Coilleag a'Phrionnsa, or Prince's Beach, on the island of Eriskay. Linked by causeway to South Uist and by ferry to Barra, the island is a highlight of any tour of the Western Isles. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/eriskay/eriskay/index.html

#Barra and #Vatersay are one beach paradise. There's even a beach for cows.

We pitched the tent last night in strong winds next to a rabbit colony on a Vatersay dune. Today we woke up at dawn under a blue sky. Still we enjoyed a good tailwind while we raced to the ferry to #Eriskay.

After years of dithering, I am in the middle of cycling the #Hebrides Way from #Barra to #Lewis, the purple line on the map. As much as the islands are fascinating I am v disappointed by the level of fast road traffic. This is especially true now that I have reached #Harris. On the mainland I would strenuously avoid such roads. Some sections have been truly lovely, especially Barra, #Eriskay & the s parts of S Uist, but as a package I would hesitate to recommend the route. #cycling #biketoot
