So, last month I jumped into the #ZMK pool, and tweaked an existing setup and keymap to fit my new Re-gret #ergomech keyboard. It seemed pretty straightforward, with a handful of files that I could generally figure out with a bit of searching.
This month, while getting PCBs made for a 30-key Tern, I figured maybe it was time to see what alternative layouts there might be to the Dvorak I have been using for 20 years, and came across the Hands Down layouts. Looked like just the challenge to take on. And then I looked at the amazing ZMK work done for that layout and many different small keyboards: ,[Moutis](https://github.com/moutis/zmk-config). I have taken on more than I anticipated in making this work for an even smaller keyboard. Wish me luck.

Not sure why I felt like it needed to be private for so long, but if anyone else has a Voyager keyboard and is interested, this is my current layout I use on mine: https://configure.zsa.io/voyager/layouts/65nAX/latest/0

Oryx: The ZSA Keyboard Configurator

A powerful, visual tool to configure your keyboard. Based on the open-source QMK firmware.

Family photo. My two ID75 ortholinear/matrix-style custom mechanical keyboards.

The top one (white, black, and orange colors) is the older, with an Atmel chip, XDA profile PBT keycaps, and QMK/VIA configuration. Usually kept at work.

The bottom one (white characters on black) is the newer, with a RPi2 chip, MOA profile PBT keycaps, and QMK/Vial configuration. Daily carrying in my backpack.

This is the trade off of using a custom layout (based on vanilla Colemak) as a unibody split keyboard. However, considering how much direct and indirect posture correction they allowed me, and that I can work all day everyday without any discomfort, I easily consider them a worthy investment.

PS: sharing late because I now have a phone with a functioning camera again.

Dear muscle memory— I promise to not update this keyboard's keymap for at least the next month to give you a chance to get used to all the new key assignments and combos. Sincerely...

The size difference between a #Zsa #Voyager (incl. trackpad) and a #MoErgo #Glove80 in case.

I think the Glove makes up for it in ergo, but the Voyager's portability is unmatched.

My middle right thumb key has been playing up again, so I've started experimenting with a few(!) things. Current #keymap is probably not the best advert for a 40% #ergomech #mechkeeb #Keyboard... 🙄

Leaning deeply into combos. Learning a lot about the difference between things that seem to make sense when abstracted vs things that make actual sense in action.

Muscle memory is being battered, but it feels good to experiment towards best fit. It will (/may?) pare down in the near future...

I guess I forgot one thing:
- Ergonomic keyboards!

Just ordered an #ergonomic mouse to go with my #ergoMech split keyboard. Going to make my desk as alien as possible.

Found those 2 ergonomics keyboards on 2nd hand shop… They need fixing, but first a good bath.
