Very happy this alliance came together and that I get to work on it. Norwegian oil company Equinor is being rightfully protested against in most countries they try to worsen the climate crisis by drilling oil.

One challenge is that their biggest owner, who happens to be the Norwegian people, have limited exposure to what their state owned oil company is doing outside of Norway. It’s dependent on someone in the country protesting Equinor figuring out how to get coverage in Norwegian media or how to get Norwegian’s attention on social media. There are so many cultural barriers to this. Imagine if I told you to go viral in Switzerland, where would you start?

So what has happened is organisations from Norway, Canada, The UK, Argentina and Brazil came together, and are now stronger than ever working on stopping Equinors most polluting projects around the world.

The longer I've been away from Norway, the more absurd it gets watching the news. This is our Climate Minister just back from COP27:

Reporter: How credible is Norway pushing (for climate action), as we are an oil nation?

Barth Eide, Climate Minister: I think we are very credible. A group of countries who cares about climate and at the same time produce oil and gas, USA, Canada, Australia and so on has worked together with the European Union -

Norway's oil major Equinor is planning to ramp up oil and gas production until 2026, before getting back to 2020 levels in 2030. (Equinor usually hides this increase by talking about oil and gas as a percentage, not actual barrels, of production)
I live in Australia; coal is still on the table down here, huge oil and gas fields are getting approved.
Equinor is planning to drill in Canada too in significant marine areas, and they are fracking in the USA.

So no, there is no credibility outside this club of fossil producing nations.
