The Sacred Square is the very center of the Holy Empire. And it's so sacred that only Priests may enter it.
It is bound by four tall pyramids that - if you have the sight - glow with power. They represent the Pillars that hold up the Veil protecting the Empire.
Alas, they have been tainted blood-red by evil.

Regular morning: Moon wakes up in the Owl House, they all put away the blankets and pillows they use to sleep, have breakfast, and then are instructed by the Priests on their latest tasks.
Perfect (utopian) morning: Moon wakes up in her new home, in freedom, she gets up to meet friends and sees which tasks are available to earn a living.

Ruarnon Trilogy has Linh on a bus and high school excursion driving along the coast of Port Phillip Bay, #Victoria (#Australia) in her first chapter.
But as its #PortalFantasy & #EpicFantasy, and Sythe Series is SciFi #Fantasy, the real world is otherwise worldbuilding inspiration. Like Santorini for Cauldron Island, and dry Aussie bushland and Central Aussie desert inspiring the Island of the Guardians.
Any door could become a portal.
Car door.
Bathroom door.
Apartment door.
One second: normal life.
The next: Dragon World.
And Jon is starting to realize this isn’t going away.

#PennedPossibilities 1034 — If one of your characters could visit any time period in the history of their world, which would they choose? Why is that?
Moon would love to go back to the founding of the Holy Empire and tell those people how horrible their project turned out.
And maybe, none of the Sacrifices would ever happen...
(One day, I want to write the store about what really happened back then.)
