Entoloma quadratum from the White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire in August of 2023. ID verified by DNA barcoding at Mycota Lab.

This species was described in 1859 in New England, just a couple years before the civil war.

@alan_rockefeller was right! The high winds didn’t dry out all #mushrooms in the deeper canyons of the East Bay. A few things from today in Redwood Regional Park, #oakland.
All of the stunning #Entoloma in section #Leptonia were found fruiting at the interface of logs and soil. These will sadly be some of my last collections for https://www.fundis.org/ca-fundis as funding is drying up.
