#CoLiving

Co-living is about living well with housemates, intergenerational homes and in intentional communities like eco-villages. Basically anything beyond the modernist nuclear family setup.

Does anyone have any resources around co-living from getting started zines to resources on setting up good housemates decision making practices.

Increasingly folks around me are exploring different configurations for living together and it raises questions around how to do this well.

Keen for resources!!!

On a recommendation from @utzer, this is a #newhere post with some hashtags of things I care about: #dev #linux #decentralization #yoga #meditation #cycling #running #education #nz #microsolidarity and #enspiral That's a pretty good start πŸ˜‰
@clacke There's a reason #PeterThiel bought land in NZ - you don't even need to be a resident - and every other rich f%^$r who wants a bolthole if the revolution comes is doing it too. We are #Sealand! It's even in the name! If you read up about property prices in the bigger cities in NZ (where most of the kiwi #Enspiral folks are), they are some of highest in the world relative to incomes. Besides only some of the #Enspiral folks live there these days, it's a multinational cooperation.

> I think your hourly rate estimate is pretty low.

You've never been to Aotearoa have you ;) From what I've heard talking to folks at #Enspiral, $40 an hour would be a generous rate for social enterprise work. Happy to be corrected on this. @lightweight ? But yes, as you say, since most of what they propose to "build" already exists in multiple free code CMS, I'm picking most of that money just gets pocketed by the boss.

The is a great piece by Rich Bartlett of #Enspiral, #Loomio, and #TheHub, talking about the advantages of federations of small groups, over networks of loosely connected individuals:

It's reasons like these I encourage community-hosting more than self-hosting. Note: I'm not against self-hosting, for those who have the skills and motivation to set up and maintain it, it's just not my ideal that everyone self-hosts.

@paws @GuerillaOntologist Ok, I see. There's different levels of tightness of coordination in such groups. There are some worker co-op web dev shops I know of, but for simething a bit looser, perhaps the #Enspiral model fits what you're thinking of?

Horizontalism - that is, a suspicion of hierarchies and elites, meeting a willingness to explore new ways of acting together with peers, fellow workers and citizens - is the spirit of the age. Yet beyond the surge of being part of a movement, in a moment of crisis and drama, how can we do horizonta
