@pheonix Seriously though. We should actively start talking about replacing athletes with GenAI. Watch how big mad the sportsball people will get π€£ But observe the merits:
- Watching AI athletes is safer for humans. No risks of injury to people.
- It's cheaper for humans. We can cut all the public spending on school sports programs and publicly funded arenas
- It's better quality, the AI athletes will never trip, miss their jumps, fumble a ball, or slip on surfaces.
- It's cheaper and faster to produce. Training human athletes takes years and specialized equipment, and only happens at the rate humans can have babies. AI can crank out millions of atheletes and teams in seconds.
- AI refs will never make mistakes either. In fact they and coaches can just be abstracted away and eliminated entirely because the rules and strategy of the game will be part of the AI agent players.
Or maybe putting AI in everything is an annoying idea #NoAI #enshittifaction #AISlop #GenAI

I notice in myself a change, over the past few months, where I am more accepting of the future. Not that I love it; but I feel I can still live a fulfilling life regardless of all the things that will go away.
I will remain not using a smartphone. This will give more and more issues for stuff like online banking - this is already becoming a nuisance. Not sure how to handle this one - maybe use a burner phone specifically for stuff like that, tho this is already a form of compliance I don't like.
I will no longer be able to watch a lot of sports and other media, as they are locked in to enshittified corporate platforms, which I decline to finance.
I will no longer be able to play many new games, as they become more service-based, or only available on platforms that will enshittify.
I may not be able to use newer computer hardware as desktop computer start to become more smartphone-like, forced to contain DRM hardware or software; I will probably end up with a 'static' retro-computer - my current setup works fine for making music and playing most games; I may just freeze this hardware and software, pull the internet cable and use it indefinitely.
God forbid, but maybe even Wikipedia could fall as a beacon of trustworthy information, leaving me with a static copy from today, as to make sure I won't be fooled by fascist- or AI misinformation.
Talking about which, I already notice I have a hard time subscribing to new channels on Youtube I don't already know and trust, as they may be written by AI, and contain misinformation that is very hard to notice, so I'm kinda stuck with the current set of channel subscriptions.
Channels which will disappear anyway, as Youtube will soon be completely unusable as it collapses from #enshittifaction.
I could go on..
All this means I will slowly drift away from mainstream society; I will miss out on most new media, games, software, culture, people.
And I'm starting to become okay with all that π
I can still make music. I can still paint. I can still play. I can still watch. I can still talk. I still have way more than most people on the planet.
But it will hurt seeing the people around me move away into digital serfdom, as I already see them do.
I won't take a big part in the #technofeudalist society we are moving towards. And that will be lonely at times. But so be it.
I feel an often overlooked aspect of the current "Grok-controversy", where apparently the LLM was "retrained"/"interfered with" until its output more closely aligns with its "owner", is that it should really make people rethink what this means in terms of the inevitable "enshittification" of all commercial LLMs.
In short we NEED to realize how dangerous it is to hand that much power to a corporation guided by profit maximization before ANYTHING ELSE.
We can not afford to "outsource" truth to corporations.
Elon Muskβs xAI is running 35 methane gas burning turbines (enough for a small city) while only having a permit for 15 to power the Colossus supercomputer with over 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs in Tennessee. We just tried to check out on the #Sonic app and it offered us a pop-up ad for financing our food. Then Capital One, finally then Disney+/Hulu. I asked to speak to the manager and asked them to relay to the District Manager that I wouldn't be shopping with them anymore while it was happening
Apple's Safari Distraction Control is a nice tool that aids in avoiding some of the increasing enshittifcation of the web.
I wish it had function that pinged back the advertiser telling them I just nuked the ad they paid for with a clever animation.
