A new release of these patches to WINE for getting ENGINE DJ (Denon/Numark DJ playlist prep software) running under Linux.

- you need to patch and build WINE from source to use this, no instant gratification.
- It works for me but I've only lightly tested it, it might not work for you, have backups!!! I could even be judgement impaired from lack of sleep as I was up half the night tinkering with it.

Iβve been working on getting Engine DJ 5.0.0 running reliably on Linux under Wine, and after a bit of digging into Wineβs source code Iβve ended up with four patches that together seem to make it usable for me.A few caveats up front: These patches touch Wineβs file locking and drive management internals, which means they are messing with write operations. They work for me and Iβve tested sync to a real exFAT SD card, but this is lightly tested hobby work, not a production release. If something goes wrong with your library or your card, thatβs on you. Back up your Engine Library, and music, before trying any of this. These are patches to the WINE emulation software for running MS-windows stuff on Linux that improve the behaviour of ENGINE DJ a lot.

-> can access removable exFAT drives for exporting/syncing DJ set info
still not perfect, but this makes this software a lot more usable in Linux.

DJ Paavia complete bloody pain in the ass and frustrating beyond having to use Windows 11 in itself is. I am fairly certain that throwing euros at Apple's products would not fix the experience either. I wish there was a viable and well enough working solution for linux systems, as I've previously got mixed results with Mixxx's Engine OS export feature and a year ago that was not really keeping up with the update cycle of Engine OS. (Although I am not really looking for help per se, I'd welcome constructive suggestions for software alternatives that work with my current standalone hw on Debian and/or OpenSUSE systems.) #dj #rant #engineos #enginedj #denondj #notlookingforhelp #mixxx
