@KPED @Kped 2. I wish these reports would include at least some info on #methane. The report limits scope to #co2 (#CarbonDioxide). Although carbon dioxide is 80 percent of energy sector’s greenhouse gas emissions, methane is important and as #FossilGas grows to replace coal, methane emissions need to be scrutinized. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/methane-leaks-erase-some-of-the-climate-benefits-of-natural-gas/
@KPED This is good; thanks for sharing. A couple points (I’m not an energy expert, but would love it if #EnergyTooter would chime in).
1. The graphic shown here is great. There’s a zombie myth that #SolarPower is expensive. That used to be true, but since 2015 it’s cheaper than coal; & since 2020 as cheap or cheaper than #WindPower & #FossilGas (aka #NaturalGas).
Repeat: Utility scale #Photovoltaic power is cheap. It wasn’t always, but it is now.
2/2 In comparison, #solar (a.k.a. fusion at a distance) energy does not require any breakthroughs and gets better with incremental engineering advances.
Don't let sensationalistic headlines about #NuclearFusion be an excuse to stop doing things we know work today while we wait for fusion to be viable.
1/2 This #NuclearFusion breakthrough news seems to be riding on clickbait headlines. Yeah, it is amazing science and all but it is far from commercially relevant, which you'll see if you read beyond the headlines. The reason they say it is still decades away is because it requires additional breakthroughs and those can be difficult to forecast.
perhaps #energytwitter might make it’s own #energytransition and become #energytooter 🤓
