“Compounding matters is that the #American #economy is relatively #energy-intensive – which is to say, a lot of #energy goes into each dollar of output. Canada’s economy is worse yet, in large part because the #transportation system remains #carbon-intensive.” #Canada #cdnecon

@W_Lucht @faket @EUCommission relative…

Same for a lot of other #Resources and #Products:

  • Very few #EnergyIntensive production cycles are #domestic in the EU (i.e. engineering- and medical grade metal alloys) and by tonnage they are miniscule in comparison to global mainstream products (i.e. standard/low grade steel and aluminium).
    • The products "#MadeInEU" are either "cutting edge" and/or
    • so highly spechalized that there ain't much of competitiors (i.e. aerospace parts) or
    • artificially kept local due to import tariffs and/or subsidies (i.e. farming & #automotive) or
    • too expensive to outsorce due to low volumetric product value and/or high shipoing costs (i.e. [toilet] paper) or
    • politically undesired to be externalized (i.e. military / defense) or
  • domestic nieche demand productsvwith too little demand for external producers to try to distrupt ( i.e. #PersonalLightVehicles)…

#BlueHydrogen is fossil-based, with CO2 captured w/ #CCS

Research shows that #blueH2 total ghg footprint can be 20% or even 50% worse 4 the planet than burning gas directly.

Fossil fuel lobbyists have for years lobbied to label #blueH2 as low carbon or clean.

#PrivateAviation is #energyintensive, emitting significantly more #CO2 per passenger than commercial flights, but is used by approximately 0.003% of the world's population.

Private aviation emissions soar by 46% from 2019 to 2023

Annual emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) from private aviation increased by 46% between 2019 and 2023, according to an analysis published in Communications Earth & Environment. The results also show that some individuals who regularly use private aviation may produce almost 500 times more CO2 in a year than the average individual, and that there were significant emissions peaks around certain international events, including COP 28 (2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference), and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
