Yeah, that new hot end did the trick. Solid 18 hour print. I could see a physical tune-up, tighten belts, etc, but otherwise we're back in bidness.

After years of owning a 3D printer, I've finally needed to make something on it. Behold my first functional print; a hard drive enclosure for my server!
Now I've just got to wait for the actual disks to show up. This fits the Lenovo P520.

I got it on video. Please help!! I've checked the ribbon cable and I don't see anything getting stuck or hung up anywhere. The wobble happens at the same time as the control panel change.

And now...! Things were finally going great and then I heard my display clicking, then look up to find this. The display showed controls for "babysteps z axis." WTAF. There is nothing nearby that could operate my controls by accident.

Do I have a ghost?! ๐Ÿ‘ป Weird that this happened after I wondered if my machine knew it was upgrading itself.

Ok, next question...

I swapped my hot end fans out to hopefully some quieter ones. The heat sink fan is working, but the hot end and motherboard fans are not. I've quadruple-checked the connections, and unless you need to be the Hulk to push them all the way in, they're in as far as they will go and firmly seated. Any thoughts??

Iโ€™m pretty happy with my success in dialing my printer ( #ender3pro ) back in for 28mm miniatures. This model is a test model from Smol Minatures - I wanted to validate I could handle the design before late pledging the Viking/Saxon/Frank project.
@zachleat @tmcw Itโ€™s much better, from what I can tell, with the newer machines. Iโ€™m still running my #ender3pro happily. Dialing it back in for printing 28mm tabletop minis because I donโ€™t want to buy another printer. Itโ€™s a bit more work than, say, an a1. But the price is right!
@wlonk - this is what Iโ€™m hoping I can get my printer back to achieving - I think pretty decent for an #ender3pro. Model from #3dbreed
