Some Desperate Glory is a 2023 science fiction novel by Emily Tesh. It is the author's first full-length novel, following her Greenhollow Duology series of novellas.

The novel received critical acclaim; it won the 2024 Hugo Award for Best Novel. It was also a finalist for the 2024 Locus Award for Best First Novel, and it was shortlisted for the Arthur C. Clarke Award and Ursula K. Le Guin Prize. - Wikipedia

Really enjoyed this thrilling space opera initially set on a fascist survivor colony on an asteroid. The time and reality-based twists kept me gripped. Looks forward to reading more by this author.

The Incandescent was a complete surprise read for me! Absoloutely loved it! Magical academia fantasy with an adult protagonist going up against demons and herself! #bookreview #bookrecommendation #fantasy #SFF #newbooks #EmilyTesh https://hollysreadingescapades.blogspot.com/2025/05/book-review-incandescent-by-emily-tesh.html?m=1
Book Review: The Incandescent by Emily Tesh 10/5 stars

Book 5: “Drowned Country” by #EmilyTesh.

I enjoyed Book 1 of this duology more. The gay relationship isn’t where we left it, and the typical chopping up of a linear recounting of how it got there was jarring. I just wanted to enjoy them being together. The world continues to be interesting though, and the characters are still likable.

Book 19: “Silver in the Wood” by #EmilyTesh.

A lovely novella about The Green Man, who lives with his cat, mends clothes, hangs with dryads, and tends to the forest. Tesh does a lot of worldbuilding in a short number of pages, throwing in twists, a sweet queer romance, and a sense of danger for the characters we love. Part 1 of a duology, looking forward to the next.

"#DieLetzteHeldin von #EmilyTesh ist ein Buch, das die Erzählung über den Fanatismus aber auch die mögliche Deradikalisierung von Menschen in eine ausufernde Space Opera kleidet. Die Erzählerin spielt dabei geschickt mit den Erwartungshaltungen der Leser*innen und mutet ihnen einiges an erzählerischer Ausschweifung zu."
