As "threatened" a few days ago, I have started embroidering and this is my first little piece of work. I like it very much. And even with needle and thread my little, always suppressed goth heart shines through.

Before you start embroidering or hand sewing, run your fingers down your thread 3-5 times. This is called "loving" your thread and helps it not tangle or knot on itself.
I mocked up my CNC embroidery machine in Blender. I've got all the motors working as expected. Now time to either 3D print the sewing arm, or weld one up.
