I found a museum/heritage site near me and decided to go. It's 2 buses or a 35 minutes drive. I decided to drive, despite not really liking it and being scared of going to new places! It wasn't bad and I did it! Half of the drive is familiar, so it wasn't too bad.
Anyway, it was originally a medieval manor (image 2) and apparently Henry VIII grew up there. At some point it was left to disrepair, but some rich people bought it in the early 1900s and renovated/expanded it. They kept the main hall (afaik this was basically all that was left) so the interior is a lot of super cool art deco furnishings and rooms. The 3rd and 4th pic is the entrance room.
It is called Eltham manor. I'll have a thread of pics under this if anyone is interested.
