Debut album from Boston’s own The Cars, out in 1978 on Elektra, and produced by Thomas Baker. Killer debut, with “Just What I Needed,” “My Best Friend’s Girl,” “Good Times Roll,” and “Moving In Stereo.” Ric Ocasek, Benjamin Orr, Elliot Easton, David Robinson, and Greg Hawkes in the original lineup.

My copy, via a private sale, is an RCA Club edition pressed at RCA’s Indianapolis plant, with the original inner.

#CurrentlyReading This is a pretty good read if you're into #TheCars. Most everyone who had anything to do with the band is interviewed. Love the chapters about the early years when #RicOcasek + #BenjaminOrr were ambitious but kinda rootless and unfocused. Also some insights into the industry's transition from bloated 1970s arena rock to garish 1980s video rock. "All Through the Night" is a song written and recorded by #JulesShear for his 1983 album #WatchDog. It was produced by #ToddRundgren. #ElliotEaston of American rock band #theCars helped produce an early version of the song. It was #covered by the Cars, who did not use it on any of their albums, and by #CyndiLauper, who included it on her debut album #ShesSoUnusual (1983). Lauper's version peaked at number five on the #Billboard Hot 100.

Kinda interesting scrapbook documentary about #TheCars here. It looks amateurish, but apparently it's an official release, produced by #RicOcasek in 2006. Some good live footage, but could have used more of #ElliotEaston on guitar. Backstage footage kinda drags. Goes to show they were shiny and modern on the surface, dirty and noisy underneath.
