This book was a huge influence on me, and it seems, everyone who read it. I still feel surprised (& a little hurt) that it’s not more common in the culture. Ahead of her time on gender & #LGBTQ issues, before there was even vocabulary for it. I hardly ever hear anyone mention Ellen Raskin, but those who know her, ADORE her!
