(so I've been hunting for an information carrier…)

…a family of exactly solvable #quantumspin models in one and two dimensions, in which free #paraparticles emerge as quasiparticle excitations, and their exchange statistics can be physically observed and are notably distinct from fermions and bosons…the possibility of a new type of #quasiparticle in #condensedmatter systems and—more speculatively—the potential for previously unconsidered types of #elementaryparticle.

Particle exchange statistics beyond fermions and bosons - Nature

By developing a second quantization of paraparticles and constructing exactly solvable quantum spin models with emergent paraparticles, new theoretical evidence shows that non-trivial parastatistics inequivalent to either fermions or bosons can exist in physical systems.

Little w is an #elementaryparticle and an interesting #person. They prefer pronouns #theythem and have far lower mass than a #W #boson. The #standardmodel of particle physics doesn’t have an a priori reason for elementary particle #masses, and the standard model of most humans doesn’t allow more than two #genders.

Makes me wonder... In what way does it even make sense to talk about an #ElementaryParticle's size, as in diameter, given Heisenberg? If an electron had a physical size, say a diameter, how would we define that?

/me apparently stopped studying #physics and #QuantumMechanics too soon / too long ago.
