Deep Space Network was formed in Germany by David Moufang and Jonas Grossman, released in Germany in ’93 on their own Source Records label, and in ’94 in the US by Instinct Ambient. Oh, how I used to DEVOUR those instinct releases…
Zenn La, the opening track of their first release, provides their perfect entry point. A trippy spoken passage welcomes you as calm waves of #synth guide you through the rhythmic threshold where the melody widens before you, with audio references to the natural world grounding the journey throughout.
This track isn’t formless #ambient, nor hyper-beat #IDM, but lovely, even soulful, true #ChillOut music.
