Had a lovely week on Arthur Owl out of Droitwich. Electric running is amazing, almost silent. This boat does have a diesel generator for backup and gas for heating, so not totally fossil free, but we did do the whole Tardebigge flight on just what was coming in via the very smart solar roof panels. #ElectrifyEverything
Lats (314 ppm)@abcfeeds of course it’s not. We have enough methane gas but sell it overseas so we now don’t have enough. If we find more oil we don’t have enough refineries so we will sell it overseas. It’s all a con to get us to allow more exports that we give away to the fossil billionaires. At least tax the buggers!
The only way out is to reduce our fossil fuel consumption.

Well this is bad news. I knew about the risks of cooking with methane gas were being underplayed but had no idea that benzene could be leaking nonstop! Time to electrify!

Another opinion piece about the unfairness of the fuel excise as EV drivers don’t pay it. It would be fine if the issue was about fairness however it is really about rapidly decarbonising cars. We are faced with a rolling train wreck with our fossil fuel caused climate crisis. We need to electrify everything and now is not the time to talk about taxes the penalise people making the change. Certainly a change is needed to ensure the budget can be balanced but not at the expense of slowing the transition for perceived “fairness”. The system is inherently unfair as it is designed to boost EV sales and drive the transition.
