A bit more regarding lidocaine and articaine...

I am not finding a good overview. I am finding things by just throwing words together.

Today, I looked for associations for lidocaine, articaine, MCAS and found something:

It seems that articaine can be harmful for MCAS, but apparently lidocaine is not.

The list of MCAS symptoms for articaine is a bit long and include extreme fatigue, a range of gastrointestinal problems, brain fog, vascular problems, Sleep problems, et cetera.

Apparently lidocaine is "safe" with MCAS.

However, things get much more complicated where Ehlers-Danlos is also involved.

Lidocaine may cause problems, or be ineffective for those with EDS but have no effect on MCAS.

Articaine seems to be safe for EDS.

It is a catch-22 for those with both EDS and MCAS, especially since very few local anesthetics are deemed safe for those with both EDS and MCAS.

No mention of autism has been found this time. It should probably be included in studies because it is often comorbid with MCAS and/or EDS.

Complicating the research are all the so-called "AI doctor" sites. They tend to rank very high in search results and are not always obvious.

I am not quite able to collect sources and references. Brain is not up to it. Even writing this has been difficult and slow. And I have been more focused on getting better.

A little more info found on lidocaine and articaine.

People with #EDS #EhlersDanlos #hypermobileEhlersDanlosSyndrome should not be given lidocaine at all: There seems to be some adverse effects that were not specified.

Lidocaine is toxic and should not be injected into a blood vessel or a joint.

Lidocaine is used for animal and human euthanisation.

Lidocaine is also effective for heart troubles when injected intravenously, apparently at doses far below what may be toxic.

Articane is a newer synthetic dental anesthetic, safer than lidocaine, as far as anyone seems to know.

Articaine is also known as Septocaine. There are several other brand names as well.

Articaine is typically combined with epinephrine which constricts blood vessels to slow down dissipation of articaine to prolong anesthetic effects.

There were no associations found for lidocaine + #autism #ActuallyAutistic or articaine + autism so far.

Researching adverse effects of lidocaine just in case that is what the dentist used...

Been feeling increasingly awful since the work was done...

IIRC, it takes a week or so to clear out completely...

That was for topical lidocaine...

The topical application made me ill for several days...

I also swallowed a not-tiny amount. It was either swallow or drown...

I almost drowned due to other things, though...

#Autism or #ActuallyAutistic related? #hypermobileEhlersDanlosSyndrome or #EDS related? All the above?

Instead of any behavior that indicated that I measured up, everyone would react with utter shock and surprise every year when I finally reached the test I could pass. Nobody ever questioned what might be going on in a body that can't run a mile, but is very stretchy. #eds #zebra #survivor #trauma

Recently I had an outpatient procedure

I explained visceroptosis in #EDS, asked the tech if we could do upright tests, she was game to compare supine then seated results

Turns out a few medical papers exist saying this test should be done seated — medicine hasn’t caught up yet

All tests that can be done seated and standing (after supine tests) should be in #EDS and other connective tissue disorder/disease patients

Pretending widespread impacts of visceroptosis aren’t painful and don’t present other chronic disabling symptoms has gotten us nowhere
