So after Pitbull 1 had his neck broken, they started referring to him by his real name. Normally this would be fine, but I start giggling uncontrollably every time I hear Joey Styles say "Gary." Like he's supposed to be this badass dude... called Gary. It completely diminishes the aura he had built up.

ECW's 1996 show "The Doctor is In" opens with J.T. Smith introducing the band KISS. I was never a big fan of them and their glam rock style seems out of place, but "Rock N Roll All Nite" plays over the PA and out comes Stevie Richards, The Blue Meanie, Nova, and a fourth person I don't recognize dressed as the band!
This is so stupid and hilarious and in character for all characters involved! I love it!

King of the Ring 1996 was better than KotR 1995 and was a pretty decent show! The downside is that ECW and WCW both have a lot of momentum right now, and - Steve Austin's famous promo aside - this show was kind of overshadowed. I mean this was the night after the brawl-heavy ECW Hardcore Heaven '96, and two weeks before WCW's (in)famous Bash at the Beach 1996, so it's good outshined by great.

So one of the upsides to watching all of these pro wrestling shows in aired order is getting the little references. Stevie Richards is randomly wearing a "Lord Stevie" shirt and wristbands with the UK flag, I know this is a reference to the legendary Lord Steven Regal who was in WCW at the time, the man who made "now listen here, Sunshine" famous

So most of the background music on ECW's upcoming shows match card bits are songs I missed out on as a kid, but in this mid-1996 show I heard a song that I'd recognize anywhere! "Yoooouuuu want it all but you can't have it"
