Took me a while to find a balance that I feel comfortable with when using entity component systems, nodes and state-machines concurrently.

Currently updating my older implementations. Already looks cleaner and easier to add systems and features. There is no better metric to know that you learned something 😃

And as usual there are a million ways - just need to find the one that works for you.

I'm building my own games now "from scratch" to learn more and for the independence.

I've gotten far enough with this Pong clone that I feel it's worth sharing updates. I've been using RayLib (raylib-cs) and MoonTools.ECS, and it's been a lot of fun!

Here's what I have so far: a bouncing ball, a player paddle, a simple enemy AI paddle, and some walls.

An entity animates randomly between 16 poses where pose 0x0000 is fully collapsed and 0x1111 fully expanded.

Meanwhile, two of the pieces are animating between their own poses, piece 9 between states .idle and .armed (red), and piece 7 between states .idle and .sensing (yellow).

Both entity and entity part animations can be arbitrarily complex. The ability to animate them independently and simultaneously should open up promising new expressive possibilities.
