Gestern war ein ereignisreicher Tag auf der #ecoCompute und wir wollen euch unsere B&B Highlights nicht vorenthalten. 💫

🌟 Eines unserer vielen Highlights war der Talk von Anne Mollen. Sie machte direkt klar: Der Diskurs um grüne KI wird von Big Tech vereinnahmt, was bestehende Machtstrukturen und den Status Quo unserer Gesellschaft manifestiert. Das verhindere letztlich, dass wir Nachhaltigkeitsziele erreichen können. Anne Mollen untermauerte in ihrem Talk 3 zentrale Thesen:

👉 Der Diskurs um Grüne KI dient als Ausrede, um mehr in KI zu investieren.

👉 Grüne KI legt nahe, dass Nachhaltigkeit von KI ein Technofix ist.

👉 Der Diskurs um Grüne KI wird verwendet, um unser Verständnis von Nachhaltigkeit einzugrenzen.

Am Ende appellierte sie, dass wir uns den Diskurs um Grüne KI wieder zurücknehmen müssen und Lösungen brauchen, die den Status Quo in Frage stellen. Nur so könnten wir echte Nachhaltigkeit erreichen.

The decision of the #ecoCompute organizers to have a subreddit for the conference for discussions and for connecting participants doesn't seem to take off - no activity at all so far.
Don't know if things would be any better with #lemmy but then people could at least comment from whatever fediverse account they'd want to share with other participants.

To be very clear though, everything else around the conference seems organized outstandingly well to me.

Nach der Eröffnungs unseres Community Tracks sind wir direkt in die ersten spannenden Talks zu Grundlagen von IT-Nachhaltigkeit und wie Open Source die Umweltauswirkungen von KI reduzieren kann, gestartet. In unserem gemütlichen Community Space könnt ihr euch außerdem zwischen den Talks vernetzen. Wir haben auch Sticker und Kekse dabei. ;)

Und für alle Kurzentschlossenen in Berlin: die Konferenz ist heute für unsere Community ab 15:30 kostenlos.🤩 Kommt also einfach ohne Anmeldung vorbei.
