Happy to announce a new Eckard release that finally fixes that bug where the URL field wasn't prefilled when sharing an article to Eckard to save it. Plus a few more improvements:

* context menu when tapping a link in an article
* text is selectable in articles now
* a new quick share action that skips the save/edit screen

Thanks to the fella who contributed all this!

**NOTICE:** Some JDK stuff has been updated so if you already have Eckard installed you may get an error like "not installed due to incompability" or something, in which case you unfortunately gotta uninstall Eckard first before installing this new release. Fixes: * URL not prefilled when sha...

Just pushed a new release of Eckard that fixes two little bugs/annoyances:

– When returning from the bookmark edit screen the bookmark reading screen would scroll to the top, ignoring the previous scroll position.

– When editing and saving a bookmark without changing its labels, the existing labels got deleted.

Good news! #Readeck v0.20.0 was officially released today, including the new synchronization API. If you were hesitant to check out #Eckard (#Android client for Readeck) because you didn't want to compile some dev version of Readeck, now you can just upgrade to the new release and ignore the warnings on the Eckard release page. ;)

v0.07 - gollyhatch/eckard

**IMPORTANT:** This version makes use of Readeck features aren't released yet. You'll need to build Readeck from [this](https://codeberg.org/readeck/readeck/src/branch/feature/sync-route) branch (or `main` once it's merged), or the app won't work. **IMPORTANT:** Eckard's database scheme change...

@gollyhatch ooooh, I'm a #CapyReader, #Miniflux and #Readeck user and was unaware of this!

Also, how's #Eckard going? I'm currently using Readeck "PWA" and the Firefox extension on Android.

Nice, I just realized that when I favorite an article in Capy Reader (FOSS RSS reader for Android) that's syncing with my self-hosted Miniflux then the article is automatically saved to my self-hosted Readeck instance and shows up in Eckard (FOSS Android client for Readeck). I mean I've set up Readeck integration in Miniflux but I assumed I'd have to specifically send an article there, not just favorite it (actually never used the feature knowingly). Only noticed because I favorited a lot of trash articles to remember to add them to yet another middleware that filters RSS feeds later, which are now all in my Readeck reading list. Oh well, at least now I know that don't have to explicitly share articles from Capy Reader to Eckard, a single tap is enough.

Good news, there's yet another pre-release of Eckard the funky Readeck client for Android! I'm saying pre-release because it depends on a Readeck feature that's not been released yet so you'll need to run the latest nightly build on your instance for the app to work, however the app itself is - at least for my needs - pretty complete already.

New in this release:

– Download article content for offline reading (HTML only, no images for now)
– Option to download article content for all bookmarks (by default only unread and favorites, not archived as it can be a bit much)
– Sync bookmark changes starting with the oldest change. This means for the initial sync it can take a little until the newest/unread articles are shown as they get downloaded last, but this allows us to continue syncing instead of starting over should the synchronization get aborted somehow.
– Use If-None-Match header + etag when syncing to avoid downloading sync data when nothing has changed on the server.
– When offline, changes that are made locally are stored and pushed to the instance the next time there's a sync is triggered while being online.
– Saving and restoring reading progress should be much more reliable now as it's stored offline first.

Have fun and please report any bugs over on Codeberg!

If you're feeling adventurous there's a new Eckard release waiting that brings (fixed) synchronization with a fancy progress bar, reading time and some other random stuff.

WARNING! This version depends on a new feature in Readeck that's not in the latest stable release yet, so your instance needs to be running the latest nightly build or the app won't work. If you don't want that then better stick with preview release v0.03, which doesn't have synchronization yet.

Have fun!

I just dumped another preview release. This one brings downloading of all bookmarks and incremental synchronization. Depending on the amount of bookmarks the initial sync can take a couple of seconds and there's no loading indicator or anything so don't worry if the app is lagging for a little while. Also this is only downloading the bookmark metadata, not the actual article contents, so there's still no offline reading, but that'll be next.

Added offline storage of bookmarks and incremental synchronization. Initial sync can take a few seconds and there's no progress indicator of any sorts, so don't worry if the app lags a bit at the beginning.

Just uploaded another preview APK with ~50 color schemes from the flex_color_scheme package and a few hundred fonts (all predefined fonts from the google_fonts package) to pick from. If you always wanted to read all your news like it's a 90s homepage on geocities, now's your chance.

Eventually *someone* should reduce the font selection to a few good ones because vast majority of them is pretty shit for reading, but who am I to judge.
