went to a new Indian-owned cafe in my neighborhood https://sulacafe.com/ in the former Atelier Patisserie space across from Native Education College. My friend I went with is Indian and said oh they have Indian Filter Coffee you should try that. pretty tasty, too bad I threw out my chicory a while ago, I'll have to buy some and try to make it sometime.

I went to their Chinatown location with the Youth Collaborative folks interviewed in this article shortly before it closed in 2017. RIP as well.

farewell to one of the few local chains I respected. was a great place to get affordably priced, no nonsense meat and noodle soups. sad to say when I ate in their new expansion locations over the last few years there were rarely more than a handful of other customers though.

the more I read about this project the more shady it seems lol. classic Vancouver where any new cultural thing only exists to solve the procedural hurdles of a developer 🕵️♂️

Ah, shoulder season is the best.
Salute from rainy Vancouver
I didn't grow up here so I guess I'll never quite understand the mentality of my neighbour setting off firework after firework—large ones too—at 5am the morning after Halloween in a torrential rain storm 🎇
