Sialia sialis
Bird on a Wire
Here’s a female eastern bluebird (Sialia sialis) perched on her preferred lookout—a powerline. Bluebirds seem to favor these open perches for the clear view they offer of nearby lawns, where unsuspecting prey hides in the grass. They may look delicate but make no mistake—bluebirds are predators.
Step into a world where even the smallest moments—like the glint in a bird's eye—tell their own story.

This is an overexposed image of a bluebird perched on a powerline. I really like how it turned out—it reminds me of a minimalistic watercolor painting.

Rust and Sapphire
Well, hello! Charlie and I just woke from our afternoon nap. Actually, Charlie woke up before I did and patiently waited for my eyes to flutter open before excitedly urging me to let him outside.
During our morning walk, we spotted an eastern bluebird (Sialia sialis). There were many along the way, but this particular one stood out—its back feathers were such an intense shade of blue, it almost felt surreal, as if someone had painted it with a brush.
The photographs I share here don’t appear as vivid as they do in my Pixel’s gallery. To make them load more easily, I reduce their size and slightly lower their quality. Take a look:
