Speaking of EABLs. They are in our neighborhood. But neither of our boxes has had much interest. They can’t seem to compete with the MANY house sparrows ‘round here. I’ve had to… um, “deal” with dozens of those jerks over the last few months. Doesn’t seem to make any discernible difference.

We just checked in on the bluebird boxes we installed out at a nonprofit partner’s property. The first round of babies has fledged. Ten healthy Eastern Bluebirds.

Being in the Bluebird business is not for the faint of heart. I don’t know what’s wrong with this neighborhood, but both boxes have nonstop house sparrow nests.
And while I don’t love it, we are a “trap and dispatch” household. Close to two dozen in under two months.
