#Birdofparadise plumes worn by the Kings of #Nepal, Janissaries of the #OttomanEmpire, and warriors manning ships depicted on 2000 year-old Dong Son drums. Colonial occupation, appropriation of land and natural mineral resources continues to threaten lives and wellbeing as surely as the trade of plumes and destruction of natural habitat has that of the Bird of Paradise.
The Bird of Paradise has forty-two species and is found across #WestPapua, #PapuanewGuinea and #EasternAustralia.
