@Vivaldi
Stumbled upon it one day in #Ubuntu's app store's “New and Updated” section. 'Twas actually the #Flatpak version, which doesn't really have the best #images and #description, as it's #unofficial, so I wasn't drawn to it at first, but just kept in my #mind. A few days later, #BraveBrowser started having a lot of #issues (it was my bad, actually, but anyway) and I switched to #MicrosoftEdge for a while. A little time after, I found out about some ugly things M$ does through its #browser, and looked for an #alternative. #Browsers like #Brave were already too #basic for me, after using #Edge, and thus, when I saw #Vivaldi as a powerful alternative, I didn't hesitate a moment and tried it.

That's the most #important part of the story, but… there's a second #volume: At first, I was like a #crazy #chicken in front of a pot full of #earthworms, so… I obviously broke the browser in just one, two days. In the meanwhile, I also managed to repair Brave, and I was thinking of leaving V, considering it too #buggy. But luckily, I decided to give it one more chance, this time being more #cautious about #messing up with #settings… and here I am!

You might call me a very #wise person, since I didn't #giveUp immediately, but the #truth is… I was simply #mesmerized by it…

Insomnia

Being an uber geek I still sometimes wake up in the middle of the night wondering about major issues like “Do earthworms have parasites?”

#Robins are insect lovers at heart. In the spring and summer, they’re on the hunt for #earthworms, #grubs, #snails, and #insects.
To attract them, keep your #garden natural. Avoid lawn pesticides (which kill off their favourite food), and leave a few wild areas with leaf litter, compost piles, or wood stacks. These make great hiding places for bugs and offer robins the kind of “forest floor” they love to forage in.

#Earthworms reveal an #evolutionary mechanism which could defy #Darwin
A comparative #genome study of earthworms and their marine relatives could challenge Darwin’s theory of #evolution by showing that worms colonized land in evolutionary jumps

Earthworms reveal an evolutionary mechanism which could defy Darwin

A research team led by the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (IBE), a mixed research centre belonging to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), points for the first time to a mechanism of rapid, massive genomic reorganisation which could have played a part in the transition of marine to land animals 200 million years ago. The team has shown that marine annelids (worms) reorganised their genome from top to bottom, leaving it unrecognisable, when they left the oceans.  Their observations are consistent with a punctuated equilibrium model, and could indicate that not only gradual but sudden changes in the genome could have occurred as these animals adapted to terrestrial settings. The genetic mechanism identified could transform our concept of animal evolution and revolutionise the established laws of genome evolution.

Earthworms are invasive—and likely hurting insects—in much of North America

Often considered a gardener's best friend, earthworms are harming native species in forests where they don't belong.

"#Earthworms do not have ears, but #Darwin still tested their sense of hearing. He used a metal whistle and had his son play his #bassoon loudly. Darwin even shouted at the #worms" https://www.sciencelearn.org.nz/resources/22-charles-darwin-and-earthworms
