A couple finds themselves in the middle of a (soccer) football match on the corner of Campo San Giovanni e Paolo. Interestingly, in Venice, the word "campo" means square, and in Italian "campo da calcio" means football pitch. This is Venice off the beaten path. One thing you should consider about the gondola ride is the time of the day. It's better to avoid the morning because the canals are busy with big boats that make deliveries and those for the garbage collecting. The gondola ride can be a very pleasant experience and worth every euro spent, if organized by someone with experience.
