Boox announces a new version of Go 6

I guess I have made my peace with the fact that I can not make these e-readers (including my Kindle Paperwhite) work. I am mostly reading books borrowed from my library and that does not work with these devices. It is mentioned as something that could come in the future, but, it is not out yet. Anyway the places where I do my reading are - 1.

Happy: got a Kobo Clara BW ereader and it's a big upgrade from my 2018 Kindle Paperwhite.
- treats my sideloaded books as part of my regular library instead of shunting them off into 'documents'
- sorts even sideloaded books by series, Author, etc
- integrated with Overdrive, so I can borrow books from my local public library directly from my device
- newer screen tech=faster refresh rates
- usb c is just nice

Anyways, it's awesome and I'm very happy.

I also debated a Boox Go Gen II with the stylus (I miss my Note 8 tablet w/stylus), but decided against it because of battery life, repairability, and water proofness (that tablet's battery pillowed and my battery repair failed).

Also, shout-out to Humble Bundle for selling me a ton of DRM-free books to sideload. I recently got the Mercedes Lackey and Robert Silverberg mega bundles.

Tip for Kobo e-readers. If you want to read with white text on a black background, you can activate "invert screen". This can be found by clicking on "settings", then "device information". This is where you can select "developer options" and find the toggle switch for "invert screen".

Or take the fractionally less convenient but considerably less restrictive path of buying a different brand of reader.

Don't Buy Any of These Kindle Models - They Can't Be Registered

Now that Amazon has ended support for the first 5 generations of Kindles, these models should be avoided since they can no longer be registered.

“Laura Alice Bracken, a #Geelong-based artist, started building her own cyberdeck as an extension of her creative practice, in which she was experimenting with #MIDI controllers that take #biofrequencies from #plants and transform them into #soundwaves.

But Bracken, 39, wanted something she could take out into #nature and, after falling down a rabbit hole online, her mind started to widen to the world of #cyberdecks.

The device she is making – housed inside a vintage abalone shell – will also double as an e-reader.

“I just found out my #Kindle is about to be made redundant,” she says (Amazon recently announced they would no longer support #eReaders made before 2012).”

“It is a perfectly good Kindle ... so why is it suddenly going to be trash? It’s because they want to sell new ones.”
