So Amazon is cutting off the ability of all it's ereaders made before 2012 from connecting to their library service, essentially bricking them going forward.

This seems like an environmental tragedy, and possibly a breach of contract. I paid for these devices, took good care of them, and had the expectation of decades of use.

Even with horrible acid paper, books can easily last 50 years. These devices could easily last another 10.

Seeking a multi-book eReader for Android (tablet), that can open 4 (or more) books at the same time. Mostly EPUB or MOBI, or PDF if I must.

Can you help? Can you boost to someone who can? 🙏👍😀

Really happy to finally open source *Ghostwriter* today.

I built it because I wanted a calmer way to keep up with feeds, newsletters, podcasts, YouTube videos, and saved Wallabag articles. It pulls everything together, cleans it up, can summarize with AI, and turns it into readable EPUB digests.

Self-hosted, Raspberry Pi-friendly, and something I’m genuinely proud of.

Has anyone any recommendations for tools / styling for #ebooks? I'm looking at #asciidoc to #epub but I'm wondering what the "right" way to style the epub should be

Standard #eBooks is an excellent source for well edited and formatted #epub format #ebooks.  I highly recommend checking them out, and also #donating to them for their excellent work.

@tastapod
You can remove DRM from Kindle books. I've done it myself for over a hundred books, which I was then able to port into #ReadEra an #epub reader.
There are lots of websites that will tell you how to do it. This is an example. Good luck

How to Remove Amazon Kindle Ebook DRM in 2025: LATEST UPDATE - Aure's Notes

This article will explain how to Remove Amazon Kindle's DRM. This is an update for 2024, with the correct plugin and Calibre versions to remove DRM.

Aure's Notes

Amazon now lets you download some Kindle books as DRM-free EPUBs. A step forward -- but once you start reading EPUBs, you notice how much quality varies between editions.

Proper typography, consistent formatting, good metadata. These things matter more than you'd think.

Bonedread & Pendle

Pendle Bonedread here and I am your expert on all things Grimhold and beyond. Welcome back. Today, I’m going to take to to a small village just outside Grimhold Marketplace. Pendle is a small village about two miles from the marketplace, past Ubbin Falls on the coast of Howling Cove. When you first get to the village, it doesn’t look like much, but if you know where to go, like I do, you’re in for a treat. A little Pendle history… I used to do a bit of trade when Pendle used to […]
