'Return hubs' for migrants clear EU parliament hurdle

European lawmakers cleared the way Thursday for tougher penalties for irregular migrants and their potential deportation to so-called "return hubs" outside the bloc. The measures, criticised by human rights groups, are part of a tightening of Europe's immigration rules in response to pressure across the 27-nation bloc to curb migration. i think Ursula Van Der Leyen is the _perfect_ figurehead for it: unprincipled, power-hungry and amoral. that's what we're dealing with.

not a very reassuring bulwark against authoritarianism, to say the least.

After the Tangerine Tyrant's threat to withhold shipments of Liquified Natural Gas to Europe if the EU didn't finalise the trade deal negotiated last year, the European Parliament has through the deal, but has added a number of conditions intending to hold Trump to his side of the 'bargain' & nullifying the deal if new tariffs are imposed subsequently.

The problem with the Tyrant's negotiating style is its not so much transactional as prompting suspicions of bad faith.
