Likewise, there are several places with signs claiming the 19th century assertion that they are the centre of England.
None of them are close to where the Ordnance Survey found the geometric centre of England to be in the 20th.
These islands do love retaining the 19th century tripe for tourists.

One potential drawback of genius, it seems, is restlessness, a mind perpetually on the move. Of course, this is what makes many celebrated thinkers and artists so productive. That and the extra hours some gain by sacrificing sleep.
An overview of Justin Kunimune's "danseiji", "elastic Earth", world map projections, a style of projection which allows the use of individual stretching of specified areas rather than one uniform formula for the whole globe.
The most interesting to me is "Danseiji IV", a projection that is inspired by Dymaxion but looks a bit more organic.

Buckminster Fuller also did a "One-Ocean World Map" with Antarctica in the centre a year later in 1943. It's not as well remembered by the World Wide Web as the Dymaxion Map is.
