The extraordinary desolate beauty of #Dungeness

Who doesn't love a couple of hours immersed in the desolate emptiness of Dungeness in the winter.

Great big speaker stack of the disused foghorn testing station made my day (again).

It is Derek Jarman’s birthday - he died at 52 from AIDS related illness - he left behind a vast cache of art and beauty - I wrote this on the way to Prospect Cottage #lgbtq #derekjarman #poetry #films #kent #dungeness

Puget Sound has crabs.

An invasive species of European green crabs, “one of the world’s most harmful marine species,” has been detected in the Salish Sea. They “damage bed sediments, leading to the loss of eelgrass, an essential habitat for Dungeness crab and Pacific salmon.”

The Tulalip Tribes reported “detection of a green crab in the southern Whidbey Basin at Mission Beach” earlier this year.

Get outta here, crabbies!
