Today's "taverns" are maybe the closest thing to music from prompts list of #rpgaday2025.

From the perspective of live accompaniment to a #ttrpg, they are quite straightforward and may be frequent enough to reserve an instrument especially for them, like a #mandolin or a #dulcimer.

They are also easy to be treated as in-game, "diegetic" ambiance and provide an opportunity for rest from constant #improvisation. For a fitting setting, learn a few jigs and you're ready to go... ;)

I’m super excited—today is the first of three World Premieres of my work “Flight of Ecstasy” alongside premieres from 11 other Southern California #composers !!

SOCAL • CELLO • CENTRIC June 2025: Composer Highlight #12

I’m participating in a concert series of new music this June! We’ll be performing all-original, string-centric music on three dates (see photo below for info).

To help promote this collaboration, I’ll be sharing features on the composers involved!

Today, say hi to Ethan Everts — we’ll be performing her work “Like Clockwork” for Dulcimer, Violin, Electric Cello, and Acoustic Cello.

Hope to see you at our concerts this and next weekend!

Started working/building a new epinette this week. The last one was a chromatic version, played with the fingers. This one will be a chromatic version, but instead of playing with the fingers, this will be played with a small stick. The melody strings will be placed much closer to each other. The fretboard needs to be less ‘wide’ compared to the finger style fretboard. #hommel #epinette #dulcimer #folk #traditionalmusic #trad

Waillee Waillee by Dorothy Carter, released in 1978 on Celeste.

Grayson Haver Currin wrote for Pitcfork:

"..The imaginative music she made with them has long been hidden away on 1978’s Waillee Waillee, a private-press gem coveted by crate diggers and Discogs hounds that has at long last been reissued, salvaged from nearly five decades of obscurity. It is the start of a loving and stepwise quest to get her prescient records—and her compelling story, in book form—into public view at last. A seamless hybrid of clarion folk arrangements and coruscant drones, Waillee Waillee functions as a signal flare for that effort, its strange permutations articulating the shapes that acoustic and new-age music would take together in the coming years. A beautiful, sad, and bemused record, Carter’s opus is a joy to behold, as alive and vital now as it was then..."
