Mal eine Frage bei der ich ein bisschen Fedipower braucht, also bitte boosten wenn es euch nichts ausmacht.

Wie sieht das bei den einzelnen Glasfaser Providern Telekom, Vodafone und O2 aus? Habe ich bei irgendeinem davon noch die Chance Dual Stack zu bekommen? Also eine echte externe IPv4 und IPv6 Adresse?

Das ich die bei Vodafone (ehemals Unitymedia) habe habe ich nur einem Glücklichen Zufall vor ein paar Jahren zu verdanken.

Wäre super wenn Ihr mir da mal eure Erfahrungen posten könntet.

#NetCologne hat mir per E-Mail zugesagt, dass ich bei Umstellung auf #Glasfaser auf jeden Fall wieder in den Genuss eines #DualStack-Anschlusses IPv4/IPv6 kommen werde.

Das würde mich sehr freuen, aber nach den bisherigen Verzögerungen beim Ausbau (ohne Kommunikation) bin ich da etwas vorsichtig mit Euphorie.

¿IPv6 reemplazará mágicamente a IPv4? No pronto. 🤝
Hoy la norma es el Dual Stack: ambos protocolos conviviendo en el mismo cable. Sin embargo, no puedes entender IPv6 si no dominas las bases de IPv4.
En redes, el futuro no es elegir uno, sino ser bilingüe. IPv4 sigue vivo, pero IPv6 es el camino obligatorio.

@phryk @n3wjack that certainly is an option and for those deploying #PiHole this is certainly a good thing.

  • I do have #DoT and #DoH servers in the list as well (tho unlike #DualStack [ #IPv4 & #IPv6] this is not a mandatory criterion for being listed and not all support it)!

#homelab upd: configured #dualstack on #ubiquti #Unify UDM SE. For #ipv6 used SLAAC connection type. Also interesting to benchmark how CPU and Temperature changed on router

@dlakelan @tschaefer sadly #OpenWRT isn't an option in my case.

The problem is rather due to my ISP being incompetent and lazy assholes, and unless you have someone who can kick some asses around Vodafone Germany I doubt that...

  • And until I got stable #IPv6 #WAN-side there's no point doing it #LAN-side either, because it'll only make applications crash that prefer IPv6 and will refuse to go #DualStack or #IPv4 once they got an IPv6 (because for some reason the devs assumed everyone will only have #CGNAT / #DualStackLite scenarios, and not the opposite of that I guess)...

Yes, this annoys me the hell out of it too!

@dlakelan @tschaefer well, if I don't disable #IPv6 inside my #LAN then everytime the garbage cable internet decides to poof and the WWAN fallback kicks in I'd have no connectivity at all, since that's #IPv4-only and I don't get any IPv6 on that link at all...

And yes I am angry at my #ISP for fucking things up: Otherwise I'd happily love real #DualStack but right now running a #Speedtest makes the connection nosedive due to latency.

@tschaefer durfte (weil musste) wegen #CGNAT+#VPN bei nem Arbeitgeber for Jahren mal endlich #DualStack (nur auf #WAN-Seite!) fahren!

@goetz nope.

Gibt leider immernoch extrem viel #IPv4only weil in #EDGEland die @BNetzA kein #IPv6 vorschreibt und Hersteller von Hardware & Software sowie Dienstleister sich verweigern zumindest #DualStack umzusetzen.
