Spent most of the weekend at Brigit's Garden in Galway helping to repair their walls as part of a dry stone wall building course. Learned loads and was treated to some amazing food!

A jazzo is an ancient and characteristic dry-stone structure typical of the Puglia region of southern Italy, used for shelter, even temporarily, of livestock (especially sheep) during the transhumance along the sheep tracks. It consists of large enclosures with dividing walls, stables (lamioni), milking areas (mungitori), and often dwellings for the shepherds. They were designed to be functional and durable, with features such as stone wolf guards to protect against predators.
