An old quiz programme on TV mentioned the Australian word "drongo" - a bird in addition to being slang for a dumbass - and it's been a ridiculous number of years since I last heard it used as a mild insult. Reminds me of when we were cruising around South America and got talking to some Aussies and one of them actually said "Fair dinkum" to us. Like something out of the movies. We were stupidly happy to hear it.
