I DO so enjoy it when I realise some, uh, content can be read in an entirely different manner to that intended. This stuff seems to be intended as a celebration of drift car culture, but ends up as a melancholy, meditative study of anomie and alienation, cultural appropriation (see the WP article on 'phonk' for more on that), assorted crises of masculinity, globalisation, Ballardianism, the last hurrah of the (literally) antediluvian fossil fuel culture, what the kids today call "late capitalism" (I strongly object to the phrase, but hey),.. and so on and so forth. And it's pretty chill without the visuals, too, as long as you don't start thinking about the above too much.
