Breaking Free
(A therian  poem)

"I want to break free", sang he,
The legend Freddie Mercury.
"I just want you to know who I am"
Goo Goo Dolls wrote that jam.

I want to break free, as well,
Out of this human shell,
So you can know me, truly,
Completely myself, fully.

My heart speaks, my soul deeply longs,
For the form I have been given is wrong.
I should be able to roar, to fly,
To flap my wings, the world speeding by.

I am a dragon, or rather, should be.
It hurts so much that I'm not quite me.
I try my best to make it through,
And do okay, with love and friends like you.

But my soul aches for the right form,
Furry and big and gentle and warm,
Serenciel the dragon is my name,
But don't worry, friend, I'm pretty tame.

I won't be a dragon in this lifetime,
Though it is an unjust crime,
But someday, perhaps, I'll be me,
In another life, in another dimension maybe.

It perhaps sounds a little bit weird,
But really, there is nothing to be feared.
Perhaps you have a soulself as well,
And you can relate to the story I tell.

Perhaps, one day, we'll all break free,
Of this cruelly-forced humanity,
We'll run side by side together, someday,
I'll keep on believing, come what may.
