DoorDash CEO Tony Xu said he likes getting 2,000-word emails from customers and delivery workers. The long messages typically provide details about needed improvements to the DoorDash app, he said.Sometimes, the CEO tries to debug the issue himself, Xu said on a podcast. If you're writing an email to Tony Xu about a DoorDash issue, be detailed.

The CEO told podcaster David Senra in an interview posted on Sunday that he appreciates receiving long messages from customers and delivery workers, whom the company calls "Dashers," particularly when they explain a problem they had with the app.

You know I'm getting OLD when I'm learning about some schools that are overwhelmed with #DoorDash & #UberEats deliveries to students.
Who are these rich AF families affording this?? #fooddelivery isn't cheap.
I'm sure there's increased fees now bc of #FuelPrices, so what gives? I'm guessing not the families struggling with higher grocery prices !
The last time I did food delivery was during the covid lockdown, to support local businesses. Once busineses re-opened I stopped bc the pricing shot up higher than going in-person for pick up.
#Convenience is expensive.

As some of you may have heard, delivery drivers riding for #Wolt (subsidiary of #DoorDash, same as #Deliveroo) in #Cyprus organised a week-long wildcat strike this past week. The negotiations between Wolt and the strikers, mediated by the trade union PEO despite none of the strikers being their members, led nowhere, and none of the demands of the strikers were met. Moreover, a large number of strikers had their rider ids canceled for striking, with the company refusing to restore them (and even if they did it would charge them 130 euros for doing so).

Keep in mind that the vast majority of delivery drivers in Cyprus are wage employees - third country nationals on student visas officially working for fleet managers (contractors), most of which have ties to organised crime and trafficing networks. So during this week-long strike we had many incidents of verbal and physical violence by hired thugs and cops, up and including goons putting guns on strikers heads, beating up riders and destroying their cars.

On the brighter side, during this strike a lot of relationships were built between the delivery drivers and the various organisations here in Cyprus, including the #IWW CyROC. Possible next steps and further action is being discussed, however what is now the most pressing issue is the dire financial situation of many ex-strikers.

That is why we have started this fundraising campaign; any and all contributions and promotions, either personal or from branches, are highly appreciated and crucial for the future of this effort.

DoorDash’s new “Tasks” model shows how everyday work is being transformed into training data for artificial intelligence. What looks like simple actions are actually helping AI systems understand the physical world — from movement to object interaction.

This isn’t just gig work anymore. It’s the emergence of an AI data economy.
