Agi: Sony acquisisce 45.000 brani di Recognition: nel catalogo Beyoncé, Caray e Bon Jovi

AGI - La Sony ha annunciato un accordo per l'acquisizione dei diritti sull'intero catalogo musicale di Recognition Music Group, di proprietà del fondo Blackstone, che comprende 45.000 brani di artisti come Beyoncé, Bon Jovi, Leonard Cohen e Mariah Carey, tra gli altri.
La società non ha rivelato il prezzo della transazione e ha dichiarato che l'accordo è "soggetto alle consuete condizioni di chiusura", in un comunicato stampa. Secondo il Financial Times, l'operazione ha un valore di quasi 4 miliardi di dollari (circa 3,4 miliardi di euro).
"Siamo incredibilmente orgogliosi ed entusiasti di rappresentare questo straordinario catalogo, che comprende molti dei più grandi successi della storia del pop, attraverso questa acquisizione storica", ha dichiarato Rob Stringer, presidente di Sony Music Group.
I brani acquisiti
Tra le 45.000 canzoni di Recognition che entreranno a far parte del catalogo Sony figurano classici del pop come "Hallelujah" di Leonard Cohen, "All I want for christmas is you" di Mariah Carey, "Don't Stop Believin'" dei Journey e "Livin' on a prayer" dei Bon Jovi.
L'accordo è stato raggiunto in collaborazione con il fondo sovrano di Singapore, GIC, con il quale Sony aveva annunciato una partnership all'inizio di quest'anno per l'acquisizione dei diritti musicali.

Il fondo di investimento statunitense Blackstone, noto per i suoi acquisti di immobili e infrastrutture in paesi come la Spagna, possiede i repertori di Shakira e dei Red Hot Chili Peppers, tra le altre icone della musica.

Sony has announced an agreement to acquire the rights to the entire music catalog of Recognition Music Group, owned by the Blackstone fund, which includes 45,000 tracks by artists such as Beyoncé, Bon Jovi, Leonard Cohen, and Mariah Carey, among others.

The company has not disclosed the price of the transaction and stated that the agreement is “subject to usual closing conditions” in a press release. According to the Financial Times, the operation is worth nearly $4 billion (approximately €3.4 billion).

“We are incredibly proud and excited to represent this extraordinary catalog, which includes many of the greatest hits in pop history, through this historic acquisition,” said Rob Stringer, president of Sony Music Group.

Tracks Acquired
Among the 45,000 songs by Recognition that will become part of the Sony catalog include pop classics such as “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, “All I want for christmas is you” by Mariah Carey, “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey, and “Livin’ on a prayer” by Bon Jovi.

The agreement was reached in collaboration with the Singaporean sovereign wealth fund, GIC, with whom Sony had announced a partnership at the beginning of this year for the acquisition of music rights.
