The spousal unit was in the right place at the right time when our (new-ish) next door neighbour's two dogs made the great escape because somebody didn't close the front door properly. We're on a busy street so it could have turned really badly.

Anyway, the spousal unit managed to herd one of the dogs home fairly easily but he had to get the neighbour to run after the other one and lure it with food before it would willingly come home.

And that was today's excitement, other than the constant snowfall. Oh, and it was actually the first time the spousal unit got to meet the dogs. He said he loved them.

5. A week later and the Mr, the Youngest and myself go back to the #RSPCA. He's brought into the room wearing a cone as he's been castrated. We learn that he's been an 'indoor' dog: never been out walking, never been in a car, not house-trained, never eaten dog food but scavenged human food scraps. Crikey, he looks like he's never eaten at all, his skin is translucent and his body sharp and knobbly, every bone visible.

He is "10, or he might be 11, we're not really sure" years old and has a grade 4 heart murmur.

He is anxious, aloof and in desperate need.

We have what he needs and arrange a meeting for him and Hector, you know, just to see if they get on together...

His name is Jed and he is the saddest, most elderly, poorly animal in the shelter and his name is already written across our hearts.

I'm allergic to peanuts.

Someone gave my dog a peanut butter treat at daycare today by accident.

Tonight at 2 AM she came and vomited in the office next to me.

My wife had to get up and clean it because it was literally toxic to me.

What a trooper.
