So you won’t be deceived.
Our smiles may pass across our faces, fleeting, making you think we have grown accustomed to this life, and that we have come to terms with the harsh reality imposed upon us. But what the eyes see is nothing but a deceptive surface—a thin layer hiding beneath it a world of brokenness that no gaze can truly reach.
Do not take a smile as proof of contentment, nor silence as acceptance… for we are still there, suspended in the very first moment when everything began to collapse. We are still standing at that heavy beginning, where falls followed one another—relentless, merciless, without pause.
Since our souls began to fracture even before our hearts, and since breaking became our constant companion, until we were filled beyond what can be endured… beyond what can be told or survived.
We smile… we speak… we appear to be living, but in truth, behind this artificial calm lies an unending pain that seeps deep into us, reaching the farthest corners of the soul—pain that eyes cannot see no matter how close they come, and words cannot explain no matter how hard they try.
We are not living life as it should be lived; we are only existing in its fading shadow… deprived of its simplest details, and of our right to peace and stillness. We take refuge in whatever is available, carry what cannot be carried, and move forward in silence because shouting no longer helps.
As for the pain… it does not pass by like a stranger; it lives within us, slowly seeping in, leaving its mark in every corner of our souls—as if it were an eternal engraving that cannot be erased..
So do not grow weary of us, and do not stop extending your hand to us… you are our support.

How did education, a basic human right, become something so unsafe?

Yes, read that again: the post of a Palestinian, suffering through genocide in Gaza and trying to share her experience – someone who is, moreover, a founding team member of Gaza Verified (https://gaza-verified.org/team/) – was *deleted* for a stupid hashtag that some white Karen in the West got distressed about.
This is so fucking wrong in so many ways that I don’t know where to begin.
I want to know:
1. Is it mastodon.social policy to just go ahead and delete the posts of its members or was this a moderator acting out of spite against a Palestinian? (Or is everyone on mastodon.social at risk of having their posts deleted if moderators don’t agree with the hashtags they use?)
2. If this is not mastodon.social policy, I’d like to know what action will be taken regarding this moderation action and the moderator responsible and what will change internally to ensure that something like this doesn’t happen again.
Israel is already doing their best to erase Palestinians. The least we can do is to not help them by literally deleting the posts of Palestinians on the fediverse. Thank goodness hashtags weren’t a thing in the days of Anne Frank because clearly some of you would have burned her diary had she used the wrong one by mistake.
3. Can we all, please, have some fucking basic decency and maintain perspective when dealing with people suffering through genocide, ethnic cleansing, and apartheid? It’s a pretty low bar for humanity.
And, whatever you do, do not be this Karen.
Check your bloody privilege.
And fuck your hashtag.
We’re talking about human lives here.

Reasons: An obvious automated scam account created today with the sole purpose of sending “Account Verification Required” links to 600 accounts so far.
Needless to say, the link points to malware (and the domain luckily has now been taken down).
I normally consider those behind these types of accounts to be the worst human beings to ever be born on this planet.
But when they target vulnerable people in Gaza I also wish them the worst torments of hell.

A report by Haaretz, based on newly declassified archival documents, revealed that contacts took place between armed Jewish groups active in Mandatory Palestine prior to the establishment of 'Israel' and representatives of Nazi Germany.
According to the documents, some Zionist militias sought to open channels of communication with the German side as part of complex strategic calculations during that historical period.
