I won't be going to this particular one again. I won't name and shame but despite being "open to all" it turned out very cliquey and unless you had a ££££ FPV racing drone you had very little flying time or attention directed your way.
Amusingly, one of the committee who unloaded a £3,000 drone out of a £1,000 car sneered at my choice of device, meanwhile I loaded a £500 drone out of a £50,000 van. Yeah let's talk about poor choices eh? Also, laughing cos I've got a DJI Neo as a cool vlogging drone is just an insult.
Sorry that's not my way, using financial status as an insult; I am the sort of person who does not judge a person by their worth but by their value as a human.
Finally, calling me "leatherman" rather than my real name was a bit insulting. I'm on the committee of a well respected charity and I learn the names of prospective members! Yes I wear leather, but I'm also bald, pierced, and a tiny bit scary to look at. Would you call someone who was a little bit camp "poofter" because I got the feeling you would.
I wonder if they'll reach out when I don't go back?
I'll definitely point them at this Fediverse post when they do.

My FPV card arrived today. I can now show official ID, often a good way of dispersing the idiots who say "you're not allowed to fly a drone here" because they don't understand how airspace in the UK works.
Basically you don't own the sky above your property; but there are conditions attached.
I'm looking forward to doing a bit of flying tomorrow now I've got this.
I'm also now insured so I can do commercial stuff.
I'm getting so much more confident with the DJI Neo drone.

I tried circle mode on my drone set to close and low. It gives a really cool effect, although the pretty poor lighting (about half an hour away from sunset) really didn't do the video quality any favours.
Just testing if a short video works. It should, to be fair as I'm the owner of the server and I make the rules and pay for the storage.
This is me walking with my new drone following me. I'm still not over trusting of the follow mode, but I'm getting more confident with it.

Hold up, DJI's Neo 2 is here, and it's packing LiDAR, 4K/100fps video, and a 'Hitchcock zoom' mode? All in a budget-friendly package that won't require FAA registration. They even made it *quieter*! Might be the best personal drone we've seen in a while, US ban notwithstanding.
