Obfuscate, or: A rengay

A two-person ‘Rengay’

By Freya and David

db-he wipes fog from glass
features settling into theirs—
crowds behind his eyes
fp-murmurs of discontent grow
opaque truths disguised as lies
db-she hits every mark
even the tremor on cue
applause in her head
fp-disastrous results
mountains of disapproval
stark reality
db-lichen spreads along the ridge
no trace of fading footsteps
fp-wind-harried clouds burst
ice pellets repelled by glass
mist forms once again

Rengay?

Rengay is a form of linked verse created as an alternative to Japanese renga or renku. The form was devised by Garry Gay in California in 1992. A rengay consists of six thematic haiku verses and is normally composed by two or three poets, although solo and six-person rengay are not uncommon.

This form actually requires a bit of explanation, so I recommend that you read about it HERE.

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Ben Harper (b. 1969)

Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!

A quotation from Madeleine L'Engle

We need to dare disturb the universe by not being manipulated or frightened by judgmental groups who assume the right to insist that if we do not agree with them, not only do we not understand but we are wrong. How dull the world would be if we all had to feel the same way about everything, if we all had to like the same books, dislike the same books.

This discrepancy of audience response is the real reason DT is not going to the Superbowl and why his minions tried to create diversions. The media monster may have occupied Washington DC, thrown US out of the Kennedy Center to create a “boo proof” environment, possibly an AI generated salute, but the distortions will exacerbate these tensions between reality and deception.

A quotation from Horace

We learn more quickly and bring back to mind more readily
The things we laugh at than those we respect and revere.

CNN Poll of Polls: Trump approval

Presidential job approval ratings are one of the few metrics consistently and similarly measured in nearly all major public polls. An average of recent polls can often paint a more reliable picture of how the public views the president than a single poll can. The CNN Poll of Polls tracks President Donald Trump’s average approval and disapproval ratings in national polls. It includes the most recent results on this question which meet CNN’s standards for reporting and which measure the views of all US adults. The CNN Poll of Polls does not have a margin of sampling error.

Editor’s Note: The disapproval is hovering at or near 60% disapproval of Trump. It will continue to fall, right up to Midterms, and beyond. My prediction…  Thanks to CNN for their fine summary poll. Across the multiple polls, the data in patterns become visible.–DrWeb

*The CNN Poll of Polls aggregates and averages a number of recent polls. The latest Poll of Polls includes results from Marquette Law School (01/21-01/28), Pew Research Center (01/20-01/26), Reuters/Ipsos (01/23-01/25), Strength In Numbers/Verasight (01/14-01/20), CBS News/YouGov (01/14-01/16).
