original: a good friend of mine - who needs to remain anonymous for their safety - is trying to escape their family's home because they's been abused by said family for most of their life & they've had enough. my friend came out as trans to their family a few years ago, which unfortunately made the abuse worse. 1 of their relatives that they currently live with has even made multiple death threats to their face in the past couple of years, but so far hasn't gone any further than that, thankfully.

i'll be collecting the funds for them & passing them along. we're not sure how much they'll need, but i know a couple nights' stay in a hotel is about $400, & they'll need money for food & safe transportation via a taxi or similar. my friend's got a place they can move in a couple of weeks. they just really need some time to safely rest & recuperate & organise their life before then.

i've also recommended that they change their phone number so their family can't easily contact them, which might have a fee attached, but we don't know at this stage. my friend told me that they's contacted family/domestic violence orgs & the police in the past, but none of them have helped. the fv org didn't even have a record of my friend contacting them when they tried again.

hi fedi, i'm sorry to ask for #mutualaid funds so soon after my last request for them & this close to christmas, but i need funds to pay my water bill. it's $32.77 & due on the 29th december, & i don't think i'll be able to pay it by then... i've been buying christmas etc. presents & gift bags (i'm shit at wrapping gifts) for my chosen family & paying my rent & other bills, so i don't have enough left over to pay it....... i'm also seeing my boyfriend later today & staying overnight since it's christmas eve in our time zone, so that $11.21 will go to buying snacks & a caffienated drink along the way. the $1.08 is my savings.

i'm on disability payments & my rent is over half of it. i need to live by myself for multiple reasons like trauma, so the bills & groceries aren't split. my groceries are expensive because i'm on a medically restricted diet, i have sensitive skin & sensory issues. while at the moment i don't pay for the majority of my meds thanks to me hitting the medicare safety net limit, that'll change on the 1st of january when the limit resets. i'm on a lot of meds too.

i've had to increase my private health insurance coverage, so its cost will increase from next week onwards. i'm also looking into getting renter's insurance because i'm worried 1 of my original family members will break in & fuck my shit up, or i get impacted by a natural/man-made disaster.

i'm estranged from my original family because they're mostly abusive bigots who treated me like shit, especially after i came out as a trans man, & i don't want to make things awkward for the ones who aren't. i don't have anyone in my non-fedi life i can ask to pay this for me, even though it's not a huge amount. my friends/chosen family are all poor &/or live paycheck to paycheck. i can't ask my boyfriend either since i already owe him money, & soon i'm going to owe him more because i need a medical scan that costs $200+ since australian medicare no longer covers it... the scan is for a longterm condition i have that i'd like to keep private.

hi fedi, i need $76.71 to finish paying my telecommunications bill, which is my mobile phone, ipad* and home internet. i've been able to pay for most of it over the span of a few weeks using my disability pension, but i don't think i'll be able to get the rest paid before the updated due date (15th december, which is a little over a week away as of writing)...
