If I can’t make fun of my situation, what’s the point in living, right?

I am disabled. I have a very straightforward, physical disability so my access needs are quite simple. Nevertheless the idea that I can expect them to be met in a way that requires no effort and no compromise from me, something that some parts of the disability rights movement seem to believe in, strikes me as entitled, capitalist, offensive and wrong.

Building ramps, door openers, lifts, fixing pavements, removing street furniture and accessible design takes effort. It is work from other people. It makes the world worse in other ways. I can put the work in to deal with other people or go the long way round. Sometimes it is on me to put the effort in. That is how community works. That is what it is to be human. It is only the capitalist who thinks that all their wants and needs should be met below the cost it imposes on others.

A social media that is fine tuned to be just what some subset of users want is capitalist. It is a virtue of the fediverse that it is really irritating and requires a load of effort. It is human like that.

Whew, cleaning warms a body up too much. We've got a session with our declutterer in two weeks, and we wanted to do some pre-work on the kitchen. So we did! Spouse and I are both disabled (him long covid, me chronic fatigue and others), so it takes some rubbing of spoons to make these moments happen. But hey, progress is good, and means that we'll be able to better focus our time with Samantha (the declutterer). We've worked with her before and we love her lots.

Past that, just curled up with games-and-yarn. Enjoying the fact it's super overcast outside; it makes my soul happy. Where's my fellow Reverse SAD folx, ha ha, y'all know the score.

Right, gotta cool off now. I had to put the a/c on for a bit to help with the post-cleaning overwarm, so between that and the external gloom I'm starting to feel my flavour of cozy. xD

Selbst von Mehrfachdiskriminierung betroffen, forscht und lehrt er:sie mit einem queerfeministischen Blick zu und mit digitalen Spielen und nimmt dabei stets intersektional und diskriminierungssensibel unterschiedliche Diversitätskategorien in den Blick. Nach einem theoretischen Input wollen wir gemeinsam ausgewählte Spiele spielen, die die (Un)Sichtbarkeit und Repräsentation be_hinderter Menschen in digitalen Spielen beleuchten und uns zu einem anti-ableisitischen Austausch ermutigen.

Forecast for Friday: 13 - 19, 95% chance of between 3 and 15mm of rain.

Well, tomorrow afternoon/evening is going to be all sorts of aching from the temperature/humidity/atmospheric pressure changes if that's at all correct. 'Joy' 🙁

I still rather hope we do get that rain, and as much as possible of it, to boot!
