I've got my personal stuff hosted over at DigitalOcean at the moment. They're a relatively big player and situated in the USA. I like their offering and quality, but I'm on the lookout for something that might be safer for projects that host antifascist, anti-surveillance, and pro-consumer content and services, which might get flagged as hostile by the funders of all the big players in the hosting/IaaS space.
Any suggestions?
Trying to move my Amazon s3 storage over to Digital Ocean spaces and they really don't make this stuff easy for the DIYer. I migrated the data using Flexify.io but now the s3 compatible information that I'm putting in isn't connecting. Switched it back to Amazon s3, but darn it, I'm trying to get away from that platform because I figured out it was the bandwidth costing me so much.

I've moved several of my hosting to #scaleway now.
Consolidated from #AWS, #Linode and #Digitalocean. I've been a happy customer of @linode for twenty years, but wanted everything in one place and in a #EU company.
Scaleway has a good feature set. Overall well polished and nicely integrated. On par with DigitalOcean, certainly not as broad as AWS but slightly more feature complete than linode.
However, some ugly snags. I'd say that's more of a communication or marketing issue:
It's 2025 and companies are still wanting you to log into your account to create a support ticket to report that you cannot log into your account :D
Digital Ocean is doing core infrastructure maintenance today if you use them and things go haywire in Sidekiq for a bit, #MastoAdmin
They do not expect any impact to customer traffic due to this maintenance but I subscribed to the maintenance ticket for updates because you know how maintenance can go.

"During the maintenance window, users may experience brief periods of increased latency with the following platform operations:

Droplet creates, resizes, rebuilds, and power events
Managed Kubernetes reconciliation and scaling
Load Balancer operations
Container Registry operations
App Platform operations
Managed Database creation and scaling
We do not expect any impact to customer traffic due to this maintenance."
Plus a lot of IP addresses from #Cloudflare / #Hetzner / #DigitalOcean / etc just blocked, bc people using their services to build a tunnel to the free Internet.

Hey tech friends. I'm wondering about alternatives to stripe, specifically to stripe connect for split payouts. Anybody have any opinions about these European alternatives? https://european-alternatives.eu/alternative-to/stripe
I see others like these but many of them have U.S. headquarters. https://tipalti.com/resources/learn/stripe-competitors-and-alternatives/
