Europe seeks its own digital-payment systems to bypass US giants Visa and Mastercard.

Visa and Mastercard are global card systems that intermediate payments between a cardholder’s bank and a merchant’s bank. They process over half of all card payments in Europe.

The European Central Bank has been warning for some time that dependence on foreign card networks exposes Europe to political pressure or sudden disruptions.

In practice we are prepared to and offer #iDeal but are still waiting for WERO to be offered.
A European alternative with no involvement of #Mastercard and it's War On Adult Entertainment is badly needed after all.
